Faeries

Still on fairytale mode, I guess it's all this Grimm (tv show), Happily Ever After (tv show), Fables (comic bok), Cinderalla (new movie), Legend (old movie) stuff that I've been clamoring to draw faeries - and not the cute and cuddly ones either. I mean the real faeries. The ones that'll ask for parts of your memory in exchange for your hearts desire, or will offer you food only to keep you in Faerie forever...those types of faeries. I'm still using traditional stuff - a much needed break from digital work. These were quick. Each one maybe took me 10 mins.

Another Commission - Same vein of work as my previous commission although with a new client. I had to do this one with an old (borrowed) computer because my supposed monster setup crashed and bust into flames - (I kid), but it did die ;) The client was happy and that's all that counts I guess.

This is the start to my next re-concept painting. Wolverine is a character that is soooooooooooooooooo overused, but I've been a fan of ole cannuckle head since way back when Chris Claramont was doing a superb job of characterizing him. I hate this John Howlette stuff, give me Logan, the old, didn't know his past or how old he was, non emo, berserker supreme from them dayz. These are my Thumbs, Rough Sketch and Value Sketch to get me going. I should be done with the painting in a couple days or so - stay posted :D

The legendary Frank Frazetta, died today and a little piece of me died with him. This man is the reason I wanted to paint and draw comics and fantasy art in general. John Buscema and Frank were my two all time heros in the art world and I strive to be like them all the time still. I wish I had met him. I just discovered he lived in florida - I should have sought him out while I was there. He will not be forgotten and all my condolences to his family and loved ones. I can only hope to achieve less then half of what this man has done. He is and will forever be a true LEGEND.

Alchemy Style

I was inspired by David Gell's successful attempts at making Alchemy style brushes for Concept Design within Corel Painter that I created a set for myself using image hoses, Liquid Ink and Look brushes. I love the versatility of painter. The only thing I miss is real time symmetrical drawing in painter like you can do in Alchemy, and maybe the push and pull functions. Overall tho I like my little brushes. Here's is a sketch I did using the brushes and also a sample of some of the brushes I'll probably use the most.

This is my interpretation of Garth Ennis's Saint of Killers. For those that haven't read the Preacher series really should do so. It's not for the easily offended tho. I'm going add color tomorrow once I finish my school work. It's done in Corel Painter - if anyone cares.
